A Beautiful Friday

I love fridays. My favourite day of the week.

This is indeed a beautiful song for a beautiful excellent day by the late Israel "Iz" Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole (May 20, 1959 – June 26, 1997). Israel Kamakawiwoʻole debuted at No. 44 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart for his medley of "Over the Rainbow" and "What a Wonderful World". Enjoy the song :-)

The Future Is In Your Hands

I was reading this story which came as a forwarded mail.

One evening a young woman went alone to walk barefoot by the ocean after the sun had set. She stopped in her path and turned so she could see the footsteps she had left in the sand. But they had already been washed away by the waves. When she turned to continue her walk, she was startled by the presence of an old woman wrapped in a blanket who out of nowhere appeared sitting by a fire, slowly paging through the leaves of a leather covered book.

She walked up to the woman and asked. "Where did you come from? I didn't see you here a moment ago. And how did you start this fire so quickly?"

Her questions went unanswered but were instead met with a reply in a serene voice, "Sit with me, child. I have something to show you."

As the young woman sat down beside the fire, the mysterious stranger handed her the book. She curiously turned the pages one by one and was amazed to discover they contained the story of her whole life from the early days of childhood to the present. She then came to the page telling of her encounter with the old woman by the fire during her walk on the beach, but upon turning to the next page, she found it empty. She frantically began to turn the rest of the pages in the book only to find that they, too, were all empty. In bewilderment, she looked to the old woman and pleaded with her to explain.

"Does this mean my life ends this night?"

"No, my child. It means tonight your life begins."

At that moment the old woman took the book into her own hands and began to tear out each of the pages with words, throwing them one by one into the fire until all that was left were blank pages.

She handed the book of empty pages to the young woman.

"You see," she said, "just as the waves washed away your footsteps in the sand, your past is forever gone, never to return. The only moment you ever truly possess is here and now. Each new moment is the beginning of the rest of your life and is to be lived to the fullest, for you will not have a chance to live that moment a second time. Most important of all, each new day brings an opportunity to love--one that may never come to you again.

"As for your future, you are free to shape it as you wish, for it has not yet been written."

Then, as mysteriously as she had appeared, the old woman stood to walk away and disappeared into the darkness of the night.

A Nice Thoughtful Text Message

We get text messages from everyone whom we know nearly everyday. Some of it are sweet and some are monotonous. Some remind us of our chores. Some are hellos from friends whom we have not heard in a long time. Well, in short, test messages are an essential part of our daily lives to get a message across to someone.

But there are sometimes one of those text messages gives you those "aha" moments. Hence I got this message twice from a friend of mine. I decided to put in my blog.
The Winning Horse doesn't know why it runs in the race........But it knows it runs faster because of the beats and pains.......The larger your pains are, the stronger you become......Life is a race, God is your rider......The harder He beats you, the stronger He makes you to win........Life is somtimes difficult but ALWAYS POSSIBLE.

Thank you for sending me this message. It really very encouraging, meaningful and sweet.

To Be Grateful For

Its my birthday today. And most of us go by our daily lives just whining away about the things we dont have. I realized the more ambitious we get, the more greedy we are. We forget about all that we are blessed for. So hence this post is dedicated to myself. It sounds abit cliche but what the heck...... It reminds me how super lucky I am today. I dont care if its not in alphabetical order. Anyway life isnt about any orders or how you live by some rules. Rules are meant to be broken.

Its plain and simple. You sow what you reap.

  • I am happy i wake up each morning.
  • Thank you for such a beautiful home.
  • I am thankful for a complete set of me, I am still intact. In the perfect pink of health
  • I am grateful for the deicisions I have made till now.
  • I have been blessed with a great dad. I am who I am today because of him.
  • I am blessed with a wonderful mum, brother, sister in law and my ever beautiful angelic niece. And by the way there's another niece on the way in November.
  • Of course, how could i forget Prince, my sweet lil Valentine boy. Prince if you could talk, I just wanna know why you bark at every single thing that moves even if they dont irritate you.
  • I am blessed for my aunts, uncles and my 2 noisyyyy cousins that surround me. If it weren't for them, any occasions would definitely be a silent one. Ok we are a noisy bunch indeed. What the heck again. If you dont enjoy life, when are you going to anyway?
  • I am thankful for all the good things in life i have today.
  • I am grateful that i have an excellent job in Dresser.
  • I have excellent colleagues. I have learnt to deal with alot of charaters and attitude. Thank you for making a very patient person.
  • I have an excellent partner in crime i sit next to in the office. I learn alot of things from you. Our place is oh so strategic.
  • Thank you to the wonderful people who taught me through their experience that what i am facing is really small.
  • I am grateful for the good food i am blessed with everyday.
  • I am grateful that i am blessed with a common sense to know what is right and what is wrong and how i should treat people.
  • I am grateful for the fat pay cheque that comes from Dresser at the end of every month. It doesn't matter whether how we view our pay cheques, we still have a job and that's the most important point.
  • I am thankful for all the wonderful spectacularly amazing moments in my life. It gave me the reason to smile and to realize life is just worth living. I am grateful for all the mental blocks, the road blocks, the obtacles, the tears, the challenges i have encountered. It moulded me to who i am today. It matured me to be a better person today. And i know there will be more to come and yes, i am ready to face them.
  • I have wonderful friends from all walks of life. I am so blessed as i have friends from all sorts of ages and across the continent (you people know who you are) and we interact really well. Coz we are such nice bunch of people. We make this place a better place to live in.
  • Thank you to those whom i hav not met but we have an unspoken bond of trust which will not be broken.
  • I am grateful to be ME

Here's a dedication to all you wonderful people out there. Its straight from the heart with a genuine smile :-) One of my fav numbers

Footprints

Footprints was a very significant poem to me in 2000. Significant is just putting it very mildly. Everyone has their own mantra for strength and mine was the ever famous, Footprints.
This poem is as old as 1871. Imagine that.

I was reading it everyday for one whole year. It kept reminding that I would find the strength to carry on no matter how hard the road looked like. For some reason, i completely forgot about the poem. I didnt forget the poem. Its a famous poem anyway. Many people would have heard about it. For some reason, i stopped reading it. Its like i didnt need my mantra anymore.

I was reminded of the poem today.

Thanks, Shane, you actually reminded me about it while we were chatting. Plus I love the chats we have. Its indeed very warm, cosy and easy feeling, thank you for that as well. You make it very easy for me to talk. Very good fren indeed :-)
Footprints reminded me the road i am walking along is that i am never alone.

This poem i am dedicating to you, Shane coz you are indeed a wonderful person filled with so many things which makes you nice. And i hope that the road you are strolling along is a happy cosy one which fills you with so much of happiness and joy this life can give you. I guess you still have a long way to go coz the world needs more nice & motivating people like you around.
And always remember, in the heart of P.J, there is always someone who cares for you :-) The Bugggggggggggggg (Ha ha ha)

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you."

The Bare Necessities To Take Along One's Journey Through Life

What prompted me to come up with this subject today? My blog sifu, Nor Intan by the way who is blogging right now with alot of sighs asked me if i read this book "How to simplify your life". It dawned into me do we actually need a book to simplify our lives right now. You just need to take the good and throw out the bad. It can be summed up in 3 simple words Declutter Your Life. Here's my simple list on how to simplify your life.:

1. Stop and smell the roses

2. Smile. As the saying goes, when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade out of it.

3. Prayer keeps everything in our lives going smoothly

4. Persistence

5. Live with no regrets

6. Love yourself. How else would you want the world to love you?

7. Slow down and enjoy the journey

8. Laughter's the best medicine

9. A pinch of Hope

10. Being thankful for all that we have

11. Shoulders to cry on

12. Forgive and forget your past or get buried with it.

13. New beginning

14. Have faith that would move mountains

15. Dont quit ( need i say more)

16. Believe in yourself

17. Chase your dreams. The skies are your limit
